Announcing grant awards

I’m excited to report grant awards supporting Contradictions – Bringing The Past Forward©

California Humanities

In support of my Art + Humanities project, Contradictions — Bringing The Past Forward©, California Humanities announced a Humanities For All Quick Grant to BoxoPROJECTS, a Fulcrum Arts arts organization.

The Humanities For All Quick Grant is a competitive grant program of California Humanities. The grant supports locally-initiated public humanities projects that respond to the needs and interests of Californians. It encourages greater public participation in humanities programming, particularly by new and/or underserved audiences, and promotes understanding and empathy among all our state’s peoples in order to cultivate a thriving democracy.

California Arts Council

A second grant award was announced by the California Arts Council, a state agency, for an Impact Project grant to BoxoPROJECTS, a Fulcrum Arts sponsored arts organization, in support of my Art + Humanities project, Contradictions — Bringing The Past Forward©.

The support of my project, Contradictions – Bringing The Past Forward©, the visual stories of African American homesteaders in the Mojave Desert, enables me to provide community outreach programming and exhibitions of my contemporary artworks.  I encourage the community – youth, adults, seniors – to develop a better understanding of and appreciation for African American presence in the Mojave Desert.

“When we create or appreciate art, we set free the spirit trapped within. This is why art arouses such joy.” Daisaku Ikeda
